To Edit Permissions
To edit the permissions of each of the roles in your firm, simply:
- Ensure you have permission to edit the Roles and Permissions module;
- On the Roles and Permissions module, click on the Edit button;
- Click on the drop down arrow on the permission heading you wish to expand;
- For each role, tick the access permissions you want to grant to that user group;
- To provide a particular Role with access to all features and functions, simply tick the checkbox underneath the Role at the top of the column;
- To provide access to a single feature or function to all Roles, simply tick the checkbox next to the feature or function.
TIP: Hover over the name of a feature/function name to discover what the permission restriction does.
Description of Roles and Permissions

| View User Access | This permission provides users with the ability to view the staff list in read-only format. |
| Edit User Access | This permission provides users with the ability to edit the user list, including the ability to add, suspend, delete and edit roles of users |

| Create New File | This permission provides users with the ability to create new files using one of the firm's activation codes. |
| Edit Engagement Team | This permission provides users with the ability to add and remove staff members from the engagement team of an audit file. |
| Mark Workpapers as Complete | This permission provides users with the ability to mark workpapers as complete, therefore setting the workpaper to read-only mode or deactivating the read-only mode if unmarked. |
| Edit the Trial Balance | This permission provides users with the ability to import the trial balance or manually add accounts to the trial balance. |
| Edit Workpapers | This permission provides users with the ability to access Edit Mode in programs and other workpapers. |
| Edit Journal Entries | This permission provides users with the ability to create, edit or delete journal entries. |
| Export Journal Entries to Third Parties | This permission allows users to export journals to third parties i.e Sage/ Xero. |
| Print and Export | This permission provides users with the ability to print individual workpapers or the entire audit file to PDF or a local printer. |
| Sign Off, Rename and Delete Files | This permission provides users with the ability to sign off, rename, archive and delete audit files. |
| View All Files | This permission provides users with the ability to view all files without having to be in the engagement team. |
| Manage Review Points | This permission provides users with the ability to create and clear Review Points raised by other users on the engagement team. |
| Edit Review and Sign Off Dates | This permission provides users with the ability to edit the dates in the staff sign off boxes of a workpaper. It also provides users with the permission to sign off workpaper procedures with one click. |
| Assign client checklist | This permission allows user to set a workpaper as a client checklist. |
| Working Paper Index | |
| View | This permission provides users with the ability to view the Working Paper Index and all supporting documents added |
| Customise | This permission provides users with the ability to customise the workpaper and folder reference numbers, descriptions and order within the Working Paper Index. |
| Workflow | |
| View | This permission provides users with the ability to view the Workflow Diagram. |
| Customise | This permission provides users with the ability to edit the Workflow Diagram including adding, modifying and deleting Steps, Sections and Tasks. |
| Reset | This permission provides users with the ability to reset the Workflow Diagram to the version imported from the template. |
| Client Management | |
| View Client List | This permission provides users with the ability to view the client list of the firm. |
| Create and Edit Clients | This permission provides users with the ability to create new clients and update client details. |
| Firm Settings | |
| Edit | This permission provides users with the ability to view Firm Settings in a read-only format. |
| View | This permission provides users with the ability to edit and update Firm Settings. |
| Permissions Administration | |
| View | This permission provides users with the ability to view access permissions of the firm in a read-only format. |
| Edit | This permission provides users with the ability to edit access permissions of roles within the firm. |
| Templates | |
| View Templates | This permission provides users with the ability to view templates created by the firm in a read-only format. |
| Edit Templates | This permission provides users with the ability to create, edit, delete and release templates of the firm. |
| Workflow Manager | |
| View the Workflow Manager | This permission provides users with the ability to access the Workflow Manager module, along with the ability to use the Workflow Manager to create filters, export to CSV, print etc. |
| Update the Workflow Manager | This permission provides users with the ability to update statuses and deadlines or any other options. |
| PDF Annotations | |
| View PDF Annotations | This permission provides users with the ability to view any of the PDF Annotations only. |
| Create, Edit or remove own annotations | This permission provides users with the ability to create edit or remove any annotations they created themselves. |
| Create, Edit or remove all annotations | This permission provides users with the ability to create edit or remove any annotations created by anyone. |
SMSF Auditors | |
| View SMSF Administrators | This permission provides users the ability to view the SMSF Auditors page in a read-only format. |
| Create, Edit or Remove SMSF Administrators | This Permission provides users the ability to create, edit or remove SMSF Administrators. |
